Step by step

Get your iMessage history onto the page

  1. 01

Use the Mac that's signed in to your Apple ID with Messages in iCloud turned on, so your iPhone texts are there too.

  2. 02

Click “Analyze my iMessage chat” above, then click the upload box to open Finder.

  3. 03

    Press ⌘ ⇧ G, paste ~/Library/Messages and press Return.

  4. 04

Select chat.db and upload it. You then choose the one conversation you want analyzed — the rest are never read.

What to upload: chat.db from ~/Library/Messages

No Mac? An iPhone can't export iMessage threads on its own. You can paste the conversation text or upload up to 20 screenshots instead.

Honest limits

What it can't do

  • Exporting needs a Mac; iPhone-only users can paste text or upload screenshots instead.
  • SMS/green-bubble texts only appear if they sync to that Mac.
  • Reactions (tapbacks), photos and voice notes aren't analyzed — only written messages.
  • The report reads patterns in text. It can't tell you what someone feels, only what their messages show.

What you'll see

What an iMessage analysis shows

01

Years of texts, not one screenshot

chat.db holds the whole thread, so the report can follow how the tone changed from your first texts to last week — the part a screenshot can't show.

02

Who carries the conversation

Message share for each person, when you text most by hour and weekday, and how that balance shifts week to week.

03

Mood and turning points

A week-by-week sentiment timeline plus a compatibility score (0–100) broken into the phases your relationship went through.

04

Ask Myrah about it

Myrah, the built-in AI coach, answers questions like “why did things go quiet in March?” using your actual messages.

What couples tell us

We thought we were falling apart. The analysis came back at 89% compatible but flagged that we never had phone-free quality time. Fixing that one thing fixed everything.

Maya P.It pointed at the actual problem

I was so confused about the mixed signals my partner was giving. The sentiment chart showed they were always distant right before big work deadlines. Changed everything once I saw the pattern.

Sarah M.Finally understood the signals

Honestly didn't expect much, but the MBTI read pegged me as ENFP from texts alone. Sent it to friends and they all said the same thing — eerily accurate.

Alex T.Nailed my personality from chats alone

A friend sent me their 'chat wrapped' of our DMs. The word cloud caught all our inside jokes — we couldn't stop laughing at how often we both say 'bruh'.

Questions

iMessage analyzer FAQs

On a Mac, upload the chat.db file from ~/Library/Messages (press Command-Shift-G in the file picker and paste that path), then choose the conversation you want. MosaicChats reads that one thread and builds your report in a minute or two.

Not as a full export — iOS has no built-in way to export an iMessage thread. From an iPhone you can paste the conversation text (with names and times) or upload up to 20 screenshots, and the analyzer will read those instead.

The file contains every thread on your Mac, but you pick one conversation and only that conversation is analyzed and stored for your report.

chat.db only has what's synced to that Mac. Turn on Messages in iCloud (and Text Message Forwarding for SMS) on your iPhone, wait for it to sync, then upload again.

Yes. Analyzing a chat is free (fair use of up to 50 uploads a week) and you can try it without signing up or adding a card. The free plan includes 5 messages a week with Myrah, the AI coach that answers questions about your chat; On the free plan Myrah answers from your report and hasn't read your messages; Pro lets her read the messages themselves and raises the allowance to 200.

Your conversation is processed to build your report, which is stored under an anonymous hash and stays private unless you share it. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can delete a conversation from your dashboard at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details on data use and retention.
